"Sacrifice", à l'origine, ne fut pas le gros succès qu'il a été. En effet, le titre est tout d'abord sorti en face B du titre "Healing Hands" (premier extrait de l'album "Sleeping with the Past" en septembre 1989), et finalement, c'est une radio américaine qui programmera "Sacrifice" et qui proposera à la maison de disque de l'éditer... et banco ! Ce fut pour Elton John son premier 45-tours à atteindre la première place des charts en Angleterre et aux USA en même temps.
Là, nous voyons le fameux clip que quasiment tout le monde a vu au moins une fois. En ce qui me concerne, c'est tout simplement la première image d'Elton John que j'ai vue à la télévision, et qui m'a fait aimer le chanteur immédiatement.
