39. "Can You Feel The Love Tonight" - clip de la chanson-thème du dessin animé "Le Roi Lion" - 1994

"Can You Feel The Love Tonight" est en fait la chanson du générique de fin du dessin animé de Disney "Le Roi Lion", sorti sur les écrans en 1994. La chanson fut un gros succès en single aussi.

A la base, cette chanson n'était pas sur le montage final du film, et quand Elton John a vu le résultat, il a demandé pourquoi elle n'y était pas. Alors les producteurs, sur son insistance, l'ont rajoutée... et ils ont bien fait puisque cette chanson a obtenu l'Oscar de la meilleure chanson de film en 1995.

"Can You Feel The Love Tonight" was in fact the end title song of the movie "The Lion King" by Disney, issued in 1994. The track was also a great success in single.

Originally, the song was not on the final montage of the movie, and when Elton saw the result, he asked why the track is not in it. Then the producers, on Elton's insistance, put it in... and they did a good job because that song won the Oscar for the best Movie track in 1995.

40. "Roy Rogers" - Live au Madison Square Garden de New York - 25 mars 2007

"Roy Rogers" est une magnifique chanson tirée de l'album "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road", sorti en octobre 1973.

Pour ses 60 ans, Elton John a proposé un gigantesque show de plus de trois heures vingt au Madison Square Garden de New York... en interprétant 33 chansons, dont une bonne dizaine très rares. En même temps cela a été son 60ème show dans cette salle, qu'il considère comme la meilleure du monde.

Cette interprétation est assez rare car la chanson n'a été proposée en tournée que rarement depuis sa création, ce qui est bien dommage. Là, c'est une sublime interprétation solo piano avec comme voix background son percussionniste John Mahon... JOYEUX ANNIVERSAIRE, ELTON !!

For his 60th birthday, Elton John performed a gigantic 3-hour 20-minute show at the Madison Square Garden in New York... by singing 33 songs, and quite 10 were very rarely performed. In the same time, that was his 60th show in this place, which for him is the best all over the world.

This interpretation is quite rare because the song wasn't performed onstage that much since it was created, which is a shame. Here, it's a beautiful rendition piano solo with as background voice his percussionnist John Mahon... HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ELTON !!

41. "High-Flying Bird" - Live au Madison Square Garden de New York - 25 mars 2007

"High-Flying Bird" est encore une merveilleuse chanson peu connue du grand public, malheureusement. Elle figure sur l'excellent album "Don't Shoot Me I'm Only The Piano Player" sorti en janvier 1973.

Lors du concert des 60 ans d'Elton John, il a décidé d'offir aux dizaines de milliers de spectateurs cette touchante balade. Il s'amuse, au début, en confessant à ses fans que comme il n'a quasiment jamais interprété ce titre en concert, ses musiciens lui ont appris comment la jouer... Ecoutez le résultat, superbe ! Et une mention pour le Brooklyn Youth Choral, la chorale de jeunes qui embellira la majorité des titres joués lors de cette soirée.

"High-Flying Bird" is again one of the most beautiful not-so-well-known Elton songs. It appears on the excellent album "Don't Shoot Me I'm Only The Piano Player" issued in January 1973.

During Elton's great 60-year-show, he decided to offer to the dozen of thousands of spectators that touching ballad. He amused himself, confessing to his fans that as he quite never performed that song live, his musicians had to teach him it ! Just listen to the result, simply superb ! And a mention to the Brooklyn Youth Choral, embellishing the majority of the songs performed that night.

42. "Hercules" - Live au Madison Square Garden de New York - 25 mars 2007

"Hercules", une bonne chanson bien enlevée, fait partie de l'album "Honky Chateau", sorti en 1972.

Le nom "Hercules" est en fait le "middle-name" (prénom du milieu) qu'Elton a adopté la même année (en 1972). C'est pour l'album en question que Davey Johnstone rejoindra le groupe d'Elton en tant que guitariste... et il est devenu le directeur musical depuis.

Toujours tiré de ce concert mémorable au Madison Square Garden le 25 mars dernier, ce titre fut également peu souvent joué sur scène. Un autre joli cadeau pour les fans d'Elton et les amateurs de bonne musique !

"Hercules" is a nice uptempo song, which was issued on the album "Honky Chateau" in 1972.

The name "Hercules" is actually Elton's middle name which he adopted the same year (1972). It's for that album that Davey Johnstone joined the band as guitarist, and he became since then the musical director.

Always from this fantastic show at Madison Square Garden, on last March 25th, here is also a song rarely performed live. So it's a great surprise for Elton's fans and amateurs of great music !

43. "Empty Garden" - Live solo au Kohl Center de Madison, dans le Wisconsin, USA - 5 novembre 1999

"Empty Garden", superbe hommage au regretté John Lennon, fait partie de l'album "Jump Up" sorti en 1982.

Comme Elton le dit au début de cette vidéo, il ne chante cette chanson que dans cet endroit, qui lui rappelle de merveilleux moments. Spécialement ce 28 novembre 1974 quand John Lennon monta sur scène avec lui pour interpréter trois titres, dont "Whatever Gets You Through The Night", qui fut numéro 1 des ventes. Pour l'histoire, John Lennon n'était pas remonté sur scène depuis la séparation des Beatles en 1970... il était pétrifié. Et le public lui offrira une ovation de plus de 10 minutes...

Lors de sa tournée américaine solo piano en 1999, il profitera pour intégrer cette magnifique chanson. Voici une de ses plus belles interprétations.

"Empty Garden" is a moving tribute to the late fabulous John Lennon, and was on the "Jump Up" album, issued in 1982.

As Elton says it at the beginning of this video, he only performed that song in this building in which he has so great memories. Especially the night of November 28th 1974, when John Lennon came on stage to sing with him three songs, including "Whatever Gets You Through The Night", a song that got to Number 1 on the charts. John Lennon hasn't got on stage since the Beatles split in 1970, and he was petrified !

During his solo piano US Tour in 1999, he will integrate this beautiful song. Here is one of his most beautiful renditions.
