20. "Bennie and the Jets" - Live lors d'un concert gratuit à Kiev, Ukraine, le 16 juin 2007

"Bennie and the Jets" fait partie de ces titres qui, en concert, sont de véritables évènements à chaque fois ! La chanson apparut pour la première fois sur l'album "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" en 1973.

Au départ, Elton John ne voulait pas que cette chanson sorte en single, il n'y croyait pas ! Et c'est lorsqu'un animateur de radio de Detroit, aux USA, lui dit que ce titre est Numéro 1 des Black & R'n'B records, qu'il se décida. Et il eut raison ! Cela a été un véritable carton !

Voici une très récente version superbement bluesy et démente tirée d'un concert gratuit donné sur la grand place de Kiev, en Ukraine, le samedi 16 juin 2007.

"Bennie and the Jets" is among those songs that, when live performed, are real events each time ! This track appeared for the first time on the album "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" in 1973.

At the beginning, Elton John didn't want that track to be issued as a single, he didn't believe it ! That was before a DJ on a Detroit radio told him that the song was Number 1 Black & R'n'B Records ! Then the single came out and it was a huge success !

Here's a very recent version bluesy as we love it, and demential, from a free concert given on the main place of Kiev, in Ukrainia, on Saturday, June 16th, 2007.

21. "Tinderbox" - Le clip officiel du premier extrait du nouvel album "The Captain and the Kid"

"Tinderbox" est l'un des dix morceaux du nouvel album d'Elton John, sorti en septembre 2006, "The Captain and the Kid". Ce sera le premier single, dont la sortie n'est pas encore arrêtée, probablement ce printemps.

Ce clip est superbe, à plusieurs titres. D'abord il mélange des images d'archives, dont certaines totalement inconnues des fans, et également des allusions à la carrière actuelle d'Elton John. Et en plus, la chanson en elle-même est pour moi l'une de ses plus réussies depuis longtemps !

"Tinderbox" is one of the ten tracks from Elton John's new album issued in September 2006, "The Captain and the Kid". It will be the first single, which will come out later probably this next spring.

This video is superb for many things. First of all, it mixes up archive images, some of them are totally unknown by the fans, and also allusions to Elton's actual career. And that song, to me, is one of Elton's most beautiful ones since years.

22. "American Triangle" - sur des images du film "The Laramie Project" en hommage à Matthew Shepard

"American Triangle" fait partie de l'album "Songs from the West Coast", qu'Elton John a sorti en octobre 2001.

A l'origine, la chanson a été écrite suite à l'assassinat, le 6 octobre 1998, du jeune étudiant gay Matthew Shepard, à Laramie, dans le Wymoning. Il n'avait que 22 ans. Il a été tué par deux de ses collègues d'université, homophobes. La violence gratuite des actes a été telle que Matthew Shepard sera abandonné mourant et agonisant attaché à une clôture (que l'on voit dans ces extraits).

Il n'y a pas eu de clip à la base, mais les images que vous voyez là sont tirées de l'excellent film "The Laramie Project", qui date de 2002. Certaines de ces images sont difficilement soutenables, tant elles sont injustes et gratuites. Mais c'est un moment particulièrement émouvant.

"American Triangle" can be found on the album "Songs from the West Coast" which came out in October 2001.

Originally, that song was written following the brutal murder of the young gay student Matthew Shepard, on October 6th, 1998, in Laramie, Wyoming. He was only 22 years old. He was murdered by two of his university collegues, who hated gay people. The "easy" violence of these acts were that Matthew was abandoned dying and agonizing, tied on a high ridge fence (that fence can be seen on that video).

There was no official video for the song, but the images that you see here are from the movie "The Laramie Project", from 2002. Some of those images are hard to watch, but it's a very moving moment.

23. "Tears in Heaven" - Chanson enregistrée suite au désastre de l'Ouragan Katrina à la Nouvelle-Orléans

"Tears in Heaven", au départ, est une chanson d'Eric Clapton qu'il a composée peu de temps après le décès tragique et brutal de son fils Connor en mars 1991.

Afin de réunir des fonds pour aider la population de la Nouvelle-Orléans à survivre et, pour apporter leur contribution, de nombreux artistes ont répondu présents et ont enregistré cette nouvelle version, que je trouve vraiment excellente.

Vous pourrez donc entendre et voir Elton John, au début et à la fin du titre, et également Rod Stewart, Gwen Stefani, Ozzy et Kelly Osbourne, Josh Groban et d'autres encore.

In a way to raise funds to help the people in New Orleans, following the Katrina hurricane, many artists gave their voices and recorded this new version, which I find really excellent.

You can hear and see Elton John at the beginning and at the end of the video, and also Rod Stewart, Gwen Stefani, Ozzy and Kelly Osbourne, Josh Groban and others.

"Please" a été le quatrième extrait de l'album "Made in England" sorti en mars 1995, et pour moi c'est une des meilleures du disque.

Le clip est très amusant, plein de clins d'oeil à la société de consommation actuelle et avec énormément de couleurs et de formes.
